About Heather

Hello! I am Heather Vance, a Licensed Professional Counselor entering on my 24th year helping children, teens, adults, & families work through painful life events and build skills essential to wellbeing: self-awareness, emotional regulation, adaptability, value-based living and effective relationship practices. I am EMDR Certified and specialize in helping children and adults with ADHD understand their brains, manage challenges, and harness their unique cognitive gifts.

I utilize expressive arts therapeutic activities, Aromatherapy, Play Therapy, and Experiential activities to help clients reach their goals.

Change is a process, not an "on/off" switch; lasting change occurs in stages and is characterized by ambivalence, failure, adaptation, and growth.

Our pasts do not dictate our futures! I approach the process of change by engaging clients in exploration of their journey to the present and how patterns of thoughts and behaviors that protected or soothed them early on now compromise their quality of life. I provide a warm and accepting space in which to explore the possibility of living differently.

My approach to the change process is eclectic, drawing from attachment theory, neuropsychology, client-centered, cognitive, experiential, relational, developmental, and multicultural influences. I heartily enjoy working with children, tweens, adolescents, and adults seeking a more peaceful, joyful, and connected life.
