Parent-Child Relationship Repair Intensive

Where connection begins again

Private. Focused. Therapist Led.

Led by Rachel Hixon, Licensed Associate Counselor

A private, two-day therapy experience for parents and their adult children (18+). Together with a therapist, you'll have focused time to understand what has created distance, work through hurt, change patterns, and begin building a healthier relationship.

This May Be For You If…

  • You care about the relationship, but something has gotten in the way.
  • Hurt, conflict, or distance keeps pulling you apart.
  • You keep having the same conversations without getting anywhere.
  • You're both willing to show up and try something different.

Many families plan an intensive around a visit, which makes this format a good fit when a parent and adult child live in different cities.

What to Expect

Two focused days

Consecutive days of private therapy, without the week-to-week gaps of traditional sessions.

A guided process

Rachel structures each day around the goals you set together beforehand.

Time to go deeper

Extended time lets conversations continue instead of stopping when the hour ends.

A way forward

You'll leave with a shared understanding of next steps for your relationship.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Consultation

A short call with Rachel to see whether an intensive is the right fit.

  2. 2

    Pre-intensive assessment

A 90-minute interview (60 minutes for current Thrive clients) to learn your history and goals.

  3. 3

    Your intensive

Two consecutive days at our Gilbert office, with lunch provided for both of you each day.

  4. 4

    Follow-up session

A 50-minute session 2 to 4 weeks later to review how things are going.

Common Questions

How is this different from family therapy?+

Weekly therapy works in 50-minute sessions over months. An intensive gives you extended, uninterrupted time together over two days.

Can other family members join?+

This intensive is designed for one parent and one adult child. Talk with Rachel during your consultation about your family's situation.

Is this covered by insurance?+

Thrive is a private-pay practice. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds.

Where does it take place?+

Start with a consultation, and we'll help you decide whether an intensive is the right next step for your family.
