How Counseling Can Help

Therapy isn’t about labels or judgment — it’s about having a private, confidential space to unload what you’ve been carrying and get tools that actually work in the real world. Our goal is to help you stay strong — on the job, at home, and within yourself.

Military & Veteran Resources

  • Manage anxiety, anger, or intrusive memories

Learn to calm your mind and body after high-stress calls or deployments.

  • Improve sleep and reduce nightmares

Build tools to rest and recover instead of replaying every “what if.”

  • Process traumatic or cumulative stress

Work through experiences safely so they stop controlling your daily life.

  • Strengthen relationships and communication

Reconnect with family, partners, and teammates — even when words are hard.

  • Navigate transitions

Find direction and identity through retirement, promotions, or reintegration.

  • Deal with grief and loss

Honor those you’ve lost and process the pain without it derailing you.

  • Reduce burnout and emotional exhaustion

Refill your own tank so the job doesn’t consume everything else.

  • Break unhealthy coping cycles

Replace avoidance, alcohol use, or overworking with strategies that bring relief — not more stress.

A Safe, Judgment-Free Space

  • Talking with a therapist doesn’t make you weak, unfit, or at risk of losing your job.
  • It’s not career-ending — it’s career-saving.
  • You set the pace; we walk beside you.

Approach & Modalities

Our clinicians are trained in trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches, including EMDR and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP), to help first responders and service members process experiences safely and effectively.

EMDR for Trauma Recovery

A proven method for processing distressing memories without reliving them. EMDR helps your brain recognize that the danger is over so you can move forward.

CBT & DBT for Emotional Regulation and Stress

Practical tools for managing racing thoughts, irritability, and emotional overload. Learn to communicate more effectively, stay grounded, and respond — not react.

Trauma-Informed, Attachment-Based & Somatic Work

Our sessions prioritize safety, trust, and collaboration. We incorporate body-based awareness to help release tension and reconnect with a sense of calm and control.

Cultural Awareness

We understand the “dark humor,” chain of command, and unspoken pressures that come with the badge, the uniform, or the call sign. You won’t have to explain the culture — we already get it.

Group Therapy Options

Structured groups that focus on education, coping skills, and shared understanding.

Meet The Team

Lauren Brands, LAC

As a spouse of a first responder and an Army Veteran (Infantry Combat Medic), Lauren understands firsthand the unique stressors that come with living a life of service — the long shifts, nightshifts, the adrenaline, the emotional whiplash, and the pressure to keep it together even when your internal world is anything but calm. She knows the culture, the expectations, the compartmentalization, and the silent burdens carried both on and off duty.

Before becoming a Licensed Associate Counselor, Lauren lived the lifestyle she now supports. Through her experience and years alongside first responders and military personnel, she witnessed how quickly the job can shape your nervous system, your relationships, your worldview, and your sense of self. She also understands how hard it can be to shift out of “go mode,” access emotions that have been shelved for survival, or reconnect with the people you care about when the job requires you to be strong, steady, and unaffected.

“My goal is to create a space where you can show up just as you are — no judgment, no pretense. Healing isn’t about being perfect; it’s about being real, being heard, and finding your footing again.”

Today, Lauren focuses her work on supporting individual first responders — firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, dispatchers, corrections officers, Emergency room personnel, and military service members — who are navigating the invisible weight of their roles. She provides a therapeutic space where the culture doesn’t have to be explained, where you don’t have to soften your story, and where what you’ve seen, done, or carried is met with understanding rather than shock.

Lauren is a Tier Two STAR Behavioral Health Provider, trained in EMDR and Neurofeedback, and is currently pursuing Certified First Responder Provider (CFRP) and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) training. She is committed to delivering culturally informed, trauma-competent care rooted in respect for the resilience, complexity, and humanity of those who serve.

Ryan Hausenfluck, LMFT

I am deeply committed to supporting first responders and military members, those who run toward danger when everyone else is running away, carry responsibility most people never see, and often put everyone else first. I understand how the demands of this work can impact mental health, relationships, and life at home.

As a Marriage and Family Therapist trained in EMDR, I offer a safe, down-to-earth space to process stress, trauma, and the cumulative weight of the job. Therapy doesn’t have to mean reliving everything you’ve been through. It can be about learning how to regulate your nervous system, reconnect with the people you care about, and feel more like yourself again.

Whether you’re active duty, retired, or supporting someone in the field, my goal is to meet you where you are, respect your experiences, and help you build resilience, clarity, and healthier relationships—on your terms. It’s an honor to walk alongside those who serve and protect our communities.

Wendy Robb, LAMFT

Before becoming a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT), Wendy served alongside a local fire department as part of their crisis response team. In that role, she worked directly with firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, and dispatchers, gaining a deep understanding of the constantly shifting demands of the job and the toll it can take on individuals and relationships. She witnessed firsthand how essential compartmentalization is in the field, and how challenging it can be to switch gears at home. Wendy also understands how difficult it can be to reconnect emotionally after a shift, especially when the job requires setting aside feelings in order to function.

Wendy now focuses her work on supporting first responders and their partners as they navigate these unique dynamics. She helps couples manage the transition between work and home, strengthen communication, and maintain connection even when distance (emotional or physical) is part of the role. She creates a space where both partners feel understood, supported, and able to process their experiences, whether directly related to the job or through loving someone who serves.

As an LAMFT, Wendy is committed to providing compassionate, culturally informed care to first responder couples, honoring the resilience, challenges, and strengths that come with life in this community.

Hazel Leno, Facility Dog

Hazel isn’t just part of our team—she’s part of the healing process. Specially trained as a facility dog, Hazel provides comfort, grounding, and a gentle presence to those who serve and protect. For first responders and military personnel, the weight of duty can often be carried in silence. Hazel offers a safe, judgment-free connection that helps clients lower stress, regulate emotions, and re-engage with a sense of calm and trust. Whether she’s lying nearby during a difficult conversation or offering a nudge when someone needs grounding, Hazel reminds our heroes that it’s okay to pause, breathe, and receive care too.
