Mental health challenges and life transitions can feel isolating. Even when people around you care, it’s hard to explain what you’re really going through. That’s where support groups can make a powerful difference. In a space where others truly get it, you start to feel less alone—and more connected.
At Thrive Counseling Services in Gilbert, AZ, our group offerings create opportunities for people to feel seen, supported, and understood. These groups aren’t just about sharing stories—they’re about building resilience and connection with people who genuinely relate.
Why Support Groups Work
Support groups bring together individuals navigating similar experiences. Whether it’s anxiety, trauma, loss, or chronic stress, there’s a special kind of comfort that comes from being with others who don’t need everything explained. They already understand the emotions behind your words.
Unlike individual therapy, support groups offer collective insight. Hearing someone else voice a feeling you’ve been carrying quietly can feel like a breakthrough. That kind of connection helps reduce shame and increase hope.
Connection Builds Confidence
Many people discover that group support builds confidence. As trust grows, so does your ability to express yourself, set boundaries, and support others. These skills extend far beyond the group room and into daily life.
At Thrive Counseling Services, groups are led by licensed therapists who foster a warm, respectful environment. We offer a space where every voice matters and healing is a shared experience.
What You Can Expect to Gain
Each group is thoughtfully designed, but many participants find:
- A sense of connection with others who understand
- Practical strategies for managing emotions and stress
- Less shame and more compassion for themselves
- Better communication and emotional insight
- Renewed purpose, confidence, and hope
Support groups are especially helpful during high-stress seasons or major life changes. They offer structure, encouragement, and the reminder that you’re not facing this alone.
Focused Support for First Responders
Thrive’s current group, After the Call, is a 16-week support group specifically for first responders. These sessions offer a confidential space to process tough calls, develop coping tools, and connect with peers who understand the unique challenges of the job.
Led by licensed therapists and supported by Hazel, a trained facility dog, After the Call addresses stress, trauma, identity beyond the uniform, moral injury, burnout, and more. Group members gain both professional guidance and peer support in a setting designed for healing.
Support That Feels Like Relief
If you’ve been feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed, a support group could be a meaningful next step. These aren’t spaces for judgment or unsolicited advice—they’re spaces to be heard, to heal, and to rediscover your strength in community.
Thrive Counseling Services is here to guide you into that space. Whether you’re navigating the unseen wounds of service or seeking a path forward through something heavy, we’re ready to walk beside you.
You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Healing begins when we feel understood. In a support group, that understanding is mutual, respectful, and often transformative. You don’t have to carry everything by yourself. And you don’t have to start from scratch.
We’ll meet you where you are.
